A complete overhaul of the curriculum for the large enrollment nonmajors general chemistry laboratory course is underway at UC Irvine.  Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI) is being adopted to the two quarter laboratory course sequence. Specifications grading is being utilized to further incentivize the teaming nature of the ADI process.  In the first quarter, students investigate the sugar content, dye concentration, buffers, and kinetics of dye disappearance for the Gatorade sports drink.  The second quarter, students investigate the use of spices as olfactory acid/base indicators, in TLC separations and in synthesis. The curricular, administrative and logistica<b>l </b>details and the results of teaching assistant and student attitude and perception of course content will be discussed.
