Understanding platelet activations is of clinical importance as it becomes directly involve in multiple diseases, in particular arterial and venous thrombosis and atherosclerosis and cancer. To further understand the in-vivo study of the biological activity of the platelet to change our perspective from an experimental focus to a clinical focus, new translatable platelet-specific molecular imaging agents were required to give off a high-resolution image for diagnosis. In this project, we report the development of a new design of a near-infrared fluorescence probe reference from tirofiban known as eptifibatide (ITG), an integrin inhibitor for Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa (GPIIb/IIIa). In consequence of in-vitro experiments with human platelets and in vivo ones in murine model of deep-vein thrombosis, we validated the anticipation of the new imaging probe for activated platelets, added benefits of short half-life, therefore, enabling fast in vivo visualisation vasculature.
