We demonstrate the principles for the potential metal oxides materials for Chemical Warfare Agent (CWAs) Adsorption and Decomposition from the perspective of solid-state chemistry. We will stress the importance of band structure and crystal structure of the metal oxides when the CWAs interact with the metal oxides. We will use mesoporous CeO2 interacting DMMP and Sarin as examples. We will talk about our experimental results on the testing of mesoporous CeO2 interacting with DMMP and Sarin. We will detail the factors impacting the activities of the CeO2 for DMMP and Sarin decompostion from the perspective of solid-state chemistry.
