As current state of the art perovskite devices reaches record efficiencies, work to transition from small scale laboratory fabrication to large scale fabrication processes is lacking. As part of the next steps necessary for upscaling perovskite fabrication, development of uniform charge transport layers, such as metal oxides, at scale is also nessicary. By combining ink composition with post deposition treatment, we have developed a nickel oxide hole transport material for uniform large area deposition on a roll-to-roll system. It was found that the incorporation of copper dopant and allowed for higher ink concentrations, improved film quality, and improved open current potentials. Following deposition, annealing with intense pulsed light and corona discharge further improved charge extraction and overall device performance. Resulting high performance devices demonstrate the large-scale application of nickel oxide as an effective hole transport material and the feasibility of upscaling perovskite solar cell fabrication.
