Due to the contingency that currently exists in Chile about COVID-19 pandemic and its mobility restrictions, the students at the Andrés Bello University (UNAB, Santiago, Chile) cannot take their classes in person, so the teaching activities are being carried out in virtual environments. The use of Blackboard as a learning platform has been implemented, training all teachers in its use. Although the classes are being developed in virtual environments, some teachers are concerned about their teaching practice in this virtual environment, and if their students really acquire the expected learning for the subject.<br/>Through this innovation proposal we promote the use of ICT in the Cell Biology course for Nursing students at UNAB, Santiago headquarters. For this purpose, the learning styles of the students of the course were measured through the Kolb Test and based on the results obtained, a planning of the classes was suggested that includes developing active-participatory methodological activities and virtual tools that favor nursing students learning, according to a convergent style in a Kolb's model.<br/>After the implementation, execution, and analysis of the results of this educational innovation, it is concluded that the learning style of the first year Nursing students of the UNAB is mainly convergent, with a contribution (to a lesser percentage) of the other three learning styles. By applying the appropriate teaching model to the profile, greater participation and motivation of the students was achieved. The students felt they were participants in the process, able to show the contents that they needed to review, motivated to learn, and suggested implementing these activities and others that allow them to put into practice what they are learning at the class.<br/>The teaching work was facilitated by using ICT and active-participatory methodologies evidenced by the approval of the project by the students and the course teacher in 100%. The recommendations of the validating experts who approve the design and validate the project with 96% acceptance were followed. This innovation project has projections within the Institutional Improvement of Education program that is being carried out at UNAB.
