Iron oxide nanoparticles with hexagonal, cubic and star-type geometries were synthesized using thermal decomposition process optimizing parameters as organic solvents (TOA and 1-octadecene) batch time residence and different temperatures. The HR-TEM result obtained showed homogeneous and dispersive nanoparticles between 10 to 30 nm. The XRD patterns denote characteristic peaks associated with the spinel structure type (Fd3m) characteristic magnetite (Fe<sub>3</sub>O<sub>4</sub>) crystal phase. We propose different geometries intending to increase the responsible coordination surface for biomedical application as a theranostic agent in cancer treatment.
