Carbonyl metabolites have been involved with a variety of metabolic diseases including cancer and diabetes. Early diagnosis of these conditions is crucial for successful treatment and mortality reduction. Moreover, differentiation of the numerous carbonyl families that are produced can aid to further diagnose a person. Just like hydrazine, the aminooxy moiety (-ONH<sub>2</sub>) can chemoselectively trap carbonyl groups, such as ketones and aldehydes. Herein we present the synthesis of a click-chemistry aminooxy linker, 3-phenylpropylaminooxy, to chemoselectively derivatize different families of aldehydes and ketones, containing alkyl, cyclic, and aromatic substructures. Cyclic voltammetry of the resulting oxime ethers formed between the carbonyl and the aminooxy linkers was performed to determine differences in oxidation potentials, current intensities, and reaction reversibility for the analysis and characterization of the compounds. A multidimensional analysis of the collected data was performed to further expand the identification of the different substructures.
