Highly functionalized pyrroles with appropriate regiochemical functionality represent an important class of marine natural products and potential drug candidates. We have been exploring Gupton’s well established vinylogous amide and haloenal chemistry for the synthesis of heterocycles. We describe an optimized, fully telescoped, multi-step flow chemistry method for synthesizing polysubstituted pyrroles. We have extended this flow method by demonstrating a formal synthesis of a natural product, Lukianol A.
