This presentation focuses on approaches that the Katz research group is using for investigating supported single-atom catalysts. The talk summarizes approaches using sterically bulky calix[4]arene ligands that have been used in the past -- representing a mechanical barrier to avoid metal aggregation. It also discusses ongoing work in developing approaches to control very active single-atom catalysts, for hydrogenation reactions.
