As Eastman and CELL celebrated 100 years in 2020, we will review innovation in the area of cellulose esters at Eastman over the last century.  Starting with the introduction of non-flammable x-ray film based on cellulose acetate in 1924, through the development of cellulose acetate, propionate, and butyrate based materials for diverse applications, and to recent innovations focused in the areas of regioselective acylation of cellulose esters and biodegradable-focused applications of cellulose esters, Eastman and CELL have enjoyed many exciting developments over the last 100 years!
