Nitric oxide molecules play a large role in human physiology with numerous functions in the body that allow it to maintain homeostatic relations. A common inhibitor for the nitric oxide synthase (NOS) is Asymmetric Dimethylarginine (ADMA) which is commonly regulated by DDAH-1 (N<sup>G</sup>,N<sup>G</sup>-Dimethylarginine Dimethylaminohydrolase). DDAH-1 ultimately regulates nitric oxide levels in the body. The goal of this research was to synthesize four halo-pyridine derived activity probes that could be used for studying the in-vivo activity of DDAH-1 enzyme prototypes and act as companion inhibitors.
