The advantages of research to faculty and students at Predominantly Undergraduate Institutions are unavailable elsewhere in academia.  Faculty who embrace the teacher-scholar model balance their deep commitment to teaching and students with closely intertwined connections to research interests.  Scholarship in this setting can contribute in meaningful ways to the science community, while informing teaching that leads to the highest possible quality of instruction.  Success in both the classroom environment and with research often requires commitment and considerable planning to realize tangible outcomes.  For scholarship, securing support via research funds is often necessary for moving research agendas forward.  This talk explores the process, value, and best practices of research proposal grant writing and submissions at a PUI.
