Faculty members at predominantly undergraduate institutions (PUIs) have the opportunity to influence students as they contemplate and start their professional careers.  This session will discuss the development of a research program suitable for inclusion of undergraduates as well as potential funding opportunities from the NSF Division of Chemistry.  Discussion will include NSF funding priorities, access to equipment and instrumentation through the Major Research Instrumentation program or at NSF-supported facilities, and support for development of a diverse workforce – and how all of these requests might be tailored to PUI Investigators and their students.  Also included will be tips for faculty on how to mentor students who are interested in applying for NSF internships, summer research programs, and the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program, and ways for junior faculty members to receive mentoring by participating in NSF-sponsored Young Investigator workshops.
