Introduction Survival of patients after out of hospital cardiac arrest is influenced by factors, such as arrival time, etiology of cardiac arrest, BLS and use of AED, previous illnesses, atmospheric pollution, and pronounced lactic acidosis after spontaneous circulation.
Methods Retrospective study include collected and analyzed data on patient with out of hospital cardiac arrest and survival of patients which were resuscitated in the territorial area EMS Celje, Slovenia, in the years of 2018 and 2019. For statistical data processing we used IBM SPSS Statistics Version 25 software tool. We used the Pearson Chi Square test to compare the two attribute variables, and the Mann Whitney test to compare the numerical and attribute variables.
Results EMS prehospital team Celje addressed 157 cardiac arrests with resuscitation, that occured in 2018 and 2019. In 106 cases (67%) BLS was performed before the arrival of the EMS team, AED was used and in 8 cases (5%). 77 (49%) cardiac arrest cases occured in front of witnesses. In this group, there were 62 (80%) cardiac etiology, and 15 (20%) of non-cardiac etiology. Spontantues circulation was restored on site in 35 (45%) cases, of which and 13 (17%) patients survived to discharge from hospital.
Conclusion Acute coronary syndrome is present in 52% of all patients who have experienced cardiac arrest outside the hospital. Arterial blood pH of 7.29 and above at admission correlates with survival until discharge from the hospital. Serum lactate 3.75 mmol/l on admission correlates with survival until release from the hospital. PM10 dust particles above 33.95 µg / m3 air affects the incidence of cardiac congestion but does not affect the survival of patients after cardiac arrest. We are not special analyzed the incidence of acute coronary events without cardiac arrest on days when the concentration of PM10 dust particles was elevated.
