**Description**
The concept of distance regarding urban mobility has become something relative due to technological advance and the development of the aircraft industry around the world. Proof of that is the new technology that has been attracting a lot of attention, an electric-powered vertical take-off and landing aircraft, known as eVTOL. The aircraft is structurally based on an idea similar to drones, but with commercial aircraft functionality. This vehicle was invented to allow greater urban mobility in the daily life of the human being in order to avoid intense land traffic, consequently bringing a new concept to air mobility.
The immersion of electric cars with considerable levels of autonomy is evident, however when related to the aviation field, it is natural that questions arise regarding the use of electric motors and battery efficiency. Therefore, to solve these questions, a "Passenger Drone" will be used as an example. The idea is not to promote the brand, but rather the generic characteristics that make this vehicle suitable to operate in the urban environment.
One of the main features is the use of electric motors. The idea goes far beyond the simple “Eco Friendly” as many people think. Electric motors have the ideal operating profile for regions with high population density, because they are relatively quiet and easily deliver power/torque, drastically reducing the risk of failure and a possible crash. Not to mention zero carbon dioxide emissions, something that is of great concern in cities. And finally, more technical issues such as reduced consumption, weight and volume, things that are not only well regarded by those who live in the city, but also by the segment. aeronautical.
Regarding batteries, a little attention is needed. After all, it is on this point (or topic) that we have the biggest problem for this type of vehicle. This type of aircraft in particular consumes a lot of energy on take-off and landing. In addition, the current range can cover about 100 kilometers, but the long recharging time makes this distance become relatively small, making it necessary to resort to intense recharging mode. However, fast charging is one of the enemies for any battery, even those used in cell phones, as it accelerates the degradation process if not done correctly. Therefore, the strategy today is to analyze which charge accumulator and/or generator to use and under which conditions to avoid a fast degradation and maintain the safety standards of the system.
In this context, the idea of this paper is to show research about the power supply system of these types of aircraft. It is known that nowadays this is a crucial point for the aeronautical sector, because it is what makes the progress of this type of project viable, bringing a high impact on the technological development of the country. Therefore, the basis of the research will be related to the options of resources to power this vehicle, about the energy matrices and their adaptations to keep it running as a new form of locomotion. Thus, the objective is to bring the state of the art and peculiarities about the viability of this vehicle.
