Objectives: Current advances in technology have made possible the modification in live tissues structures with the purpose of improving its intrinsic, innate abilities to support the healing of burns and wounds. This study examines how Kerecis Omega3 Burn Graft assists in the healing process and describes its changes over time after application.
Method: In this case series, multiple burn patients of varying age and ethnicity with a wide range of burn and wound sizes, received Kerecis Omega3 Burn Graft applied post debridement and/or excision. The fish skin graft effects on wound healing were evaluated regarding time to wound closure, restoration of barrier function, complications and pain severity.
Results: Overall the cohort of patients treated with Kerecis Omega3 Burn had an observed decrease in healing time, complications, and patient-reported pain. Clinical challenges encountered are outlined. Evidence of product assimilation is presented.
Conclusion: In this case study, the fish skin graft demonstrated similar or better results to our previous standard of care treatment. Certain characteristics observed during and after wound closure indicates relatively high speed of product assimilation compared to standard of care products.

Italy is honored to hold the meeting of the European Burns Association for the second time, after Verona in 1995.
