Nitrene transfer is a powerful and convenient method for the installation of enantioenriched C–N bonds from abundant C–H bonds. Silver catalysts have been shown to be able to tune the chemo-, site-, and stereoselectivity of these reactions when employing a variety of N-dendate ligands. This presentation will discuss the development of an intramolecular site-selective amination method utilizing urea derivatives as the nitrene transfer precursor. While urea derived nitrenes typically prefer intramolecular insertion into the β-position, when coupled with an appropriate silver salt and electron rich, bidendate ligands, amination in the γ-position is efficiently achieved in a number of activated and unactivated substrates.
