In 2017, a new program was launched at Northern Michigan University with a specific focus on cannabis chemistry. Medicinal Plant Chemistry includes a core of chemistry and biology coursework with a specific focus on analytical chemistry in the upper levels. Students gain extensive hands-on experience with a variety of instrumentation and are required to design and execute an independent research project. Organization of this program will be presented in detail, along with a reflection on the relative challenges faced and successes realized.
