The development of green and renewable methods of light-harvesting is an essential research area in the field of materials science because it is key to the development of solar technology worldwide. In this study, the device with a PM6:Y6-based active layer containing 1.0% 8OC60Me had a maximum power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 16.5%, indicating that 8OC60Me may be a promising candidate for use as an electron acceptor in OPV applications. The PCE of the standard device, in which the active layer consisted of PM6:Y6 alone, decreased rapidly at room temperature and during thermal annealing, whereas the PCE of the device with the active layer containing 1.0% 8OC60Me remained as high as 99.4% after 500 hours at room temperature and as high as 91.7% and 91.0% after 20 and 45 hours, respectively, of annealing at 80 °C. The average PCE of the device with the active layer containing 1.0% 8OC60Me was 29.9% ± 0.019% (maximum 30.0%) under 1600 lux. Therefore, 8OC60Me has great potential for increasing the stability of OPV devices to make such devices more suitable for indoor applications.
