The U. S. efforts to develop commercial molten salt reactors (MSRs) is being supported by a variety of federally funded activities, including the generation of relevant databases of thermochemical and thermophysical properties. The Molten Salt Thermal Properties Database – Thermochemical (MSTDB-TC) is one such effort, focused on establishing an accurate and consistent set of models and values for the Gibbs energy functions for the salts and related materials. The database generation is an ongoing effort, expanding with added systems and refinements to extant representations for the chloride and fluoride molten salt fuel compositions together with key fission and corrosion products. This presentation will provide a description of the current, publicly available database and examples of applications in the modeling and simulation of reactor behavior and its inclusion in modeling alloy corrosion in salts.
