Generally, misconceptions in electrochemistry refer to conceptual or practical knowledge that is not able to explain observable scientific phenomena satisfactorily. The electrochemistry designette is a mixed method approach that lies at the interface of design and electrochemistry. We have previously shown that the electrochemistry designette can be applied as an assessment tool to measure the students’ competence on electrochemical principles through a series of objective metrics. Further, we now propose the electrochemistry designette be employed as a visualization tool of students’ solutions (competencies) and misconceptions while in the context of building a voltaic device.
