The innovation of the fifth generation (5G) of highly integrated electronics raises a high demand for the development of lightweight and multifunctional thermoconductive electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding nanocomposites. In this study, we report a mass fabrication of multifunctional poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) nanocomposites with tunable thermal conductivity and exceptional EMI shielding performance. A combination of MXene and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanosheets are electrostatically assembled on the surface of the PMMA particles and then hot compressed to fabricate the segregation structure of MXene/rGO in PMMA nanocomposites (MXrGO@PMMA). The variation of the volume fraction at a total of 2 vol% of fillers content gives the tunable thermal conductivity and EMI SE of MXrGO@PMMA nanocomposites in the range of 1 to 4 W/mK and 25 to 60 dB, respectively, with only 2 vol% of the total content of fillers. In conclusion, PMMA nanocomposites show a tremendously potential thermal interface material for practical application in the 5G electronics.
