Non-innocent ligands have long been demonstrated to support redox and atom transfer reactivity in complexes and catalysts. The synthesis of redox non-innocent and proton-switchable metal di(2-methylthiazolidinyl)pyridine dichloride complexes (M = Zn, Fe) were synthesized by a one-pot condensation reaction. These complexes can be reversibly deprotonated to ring-open a thiazolidine arm to form 2-iminoethanethiolate-6-(2-methylthiazolidine)pyridine chloride complexes. By cyclic voltammetry, these iminoethanethiolate complexes showed ligand- and metal-centered (for M = Fe) redox events. The triflate complexes of the iminoethanethiolate ligand self-assemble into trimeric species with a six membered [M<sub>3</sub>S<sub>3</sub>] ring core. These trimetallic complexes have hydrogen-bonding ligand moieties and can cooperatively bind large anions. As such this ligand framework may serve as a versatile platform for eventual multimetallic electron- and proton-transfer reactions.
