Several approaches to imaging the optical responses of nanoscale materials are discussed. First, the imaging plasmonic fields of gold nanoparticles with the aid of ultrafast electron microscopy is outlined and illustrated with recent results. Another technique with the potential for subwavelength spatial resolution, ghost imaging second harmonic generation spectroscopy, is then discussed. In this case, compressive sensing is used to facilitate the image reconstructions. Finally, the use of quantum optics measurements such as two-photon correlation functions to achieve super-resolution is outlined, along with techniques recently developed to accelerate such measurements. These latter techniques involve Bayesian statistical and can significantly reduce the number of required experimental shots to achieve good resolution. Two such approaches are discussed, a Bayesian maximum a posteriori approach and Gaussian process modeling.
