Cesium lead chloride (CsPbCl3) perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) are widely regarded as an optimal nanomaterial due to their near-unity photoluminescence quantum yield (PL QY), narrow, highly tunable emission and unique optoelectronic properties. In particular, manganese-doped CsPbCl3 remains one of the most studied systems because of their unique magneto-optical properties and PL enhancement. However, traditional direct-synthetic doping requires Mn2+ precursors that often limit the reaction due to incompatibility and instability. Herein, we report a post-synthetic doping method utilizing a solid Mn2+ precursor to successfully initiate a solid-solid cation exchange. As such, time dependent optical and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) characterizations offers insight into the kinetic diffusion of the dopant incorporation into the NC structure. Furthermore, through compositional and 1D NMR analysis, we investigate the ligand-specific degree of precursor activation, dopant concentration and surface ligand engineering that contributes to the enhanced optoelectronic properties and stability.
