Resistance development to existing crop protection solutions for the control of sucking pests is a constant threat to sustainable food production. Our scientists respond to this challenge through the discovery of novel crop protection classes delivering innovative solutions into the hands of growers. Over the last decade, significant efforts have been made across the industry to revisit the Mode of Action pioneered with Pymetrozine (PYM), namely Chorodotonal organ TRPV channel modulation. During this talk, we will outline our investigations towards a second generation of PYM chemistry through exploration of structurally distinct chemical classes of unrelated origins. Enabled by a deeper understanding of the structure-activity relationship, we will outline a comprehensive toxophore model linking independent lines of research that all share this insect-specific Mode of Action.
