The vituperative decades long debate between classical and non-classical depiction of 2-norbornyl cation has recently been resolved by the X-ray crystallographic proof of the bridged non classical geometry of the solvated [C7H11]+{AleBr7]CH2Br2 salt. The hyper valency of carbon beyond four was formulated to six in 2017 by Mortiz and Seppelt by confirming the pentagonal pyramidal frame work in dicationic hexamethyl benzene by reporting its X-ray crystal structure. This presentation will discuss how a 17-year-old high Schooler in Oklahoma proposed a heptavalent tri cationic carbon in 2018 to become a part of the story of the very elusive carbocation.
