Dr. Trevor Tilly works for the Health and Performance Sensing and Assessment Core Research Area (HPSA-CRA) of the 711th Human Performance Wing of the Air Force Research Laboratory of the United States Air Force (USAF).  He started working with the USAF in 2012 as an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) intern as part of his M.S. research thesis at Miami University entitled, “DISPERSION OF GEOMETRIC TITANIUM DIOXIDE NANOMATERIALS AND THEIR BIOLOGIC EFFECT”.  After graduation, Trevor continued working full-time as ORISE contractor to advance nanotoxicity testing methods by developing organ-on-a-chip and air-liquid interface (ALI) cell exposure systems.  After three years of full-time work and support of his supervisor, Trevor looked to further advance the design of ALI exposure by starting his PhD studies in the Department of Environmental Engineering Sciences at the University of Florida, and was awarded the DoD SMART Scholarship for his 3rd and 4th years of PhD studies.  To meet the work requirements of the SMART Scholarship (work years equal scholarship years), Trevor is in the Phase II of the SMART Scholarship working at his current role for the HPSA-CRA of the AFRL.
