Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are inorganic-organic hybrid material which are mostly crystalline with large surface area and pore size defined by their topology. The unique position of chromophoric linkers and the resulting interchromophoric interaction can be exploited for light harvesting applications. The structural tunability of organic linkers can be used to modulate the interactions between chromophores and thereby achieve superior excited state properties. Light absorbed by the linkers results in excitons which need to be transported efficiently to new sites before recombination by radiative, nonradiative processes. To improve exciton transfer properties, one must understand the size and extend of molecular excitons which will eventually help to improve any photoinduced process in MOFs. The light energy absorbed can be spanned over multiple linkers and define an exciton site rather than exciton bound to a single linker molecule. This might be true as the interacting chromophores can be considered as coupled oscillator which can show superradiance a hallmark of light harvesting complexes seen in plants. This study includes multilinker exciton model to understand exciton migration and superradiance of topologically similar zirconium MOFs with different linkers.
