The INSecticides & TARgets (INSTAR) Summit was organized in 2016 as a platform for insecticide scientists to share knowledge and expertise on the discovery of chemistries for molecular targets and their development as sustainable resistance solutions for arthropod pest management. The initial effort stimulated the formation of an INSTAR Liaison Team to organize annual INSTAR Summits, which continues to evolve in architecture, content, and membership as insecticide science changes. After four INSTAR Summits, research highlights from early-to-distinguished career professionals across academic, industry, and government sectors continues as a mechanism to stimulate focused discussions on knowledge gaps, future directions, and deliverable solutions to challenges related to insecticide science. Here, a brief introduction to the past, present, and future INSTAR perspectives on insecticide resistance management will be discussed to provide a foundation for the continuous inclusion of insecticide scientists across all sectors that promises to drive the success of the INSTAR Summit for years to come.
