The synthesis of cyclic guanidine derivatives has attracted considerable interest due to their significance and utility of the same in medicinal chemistry. Guanidine unit is found in antibacterial compounds as well as in anti-diabetic medicines. As part of oroidin-based medchem research, we are involved in the synthesis of Oroidin and its dimeric congeners. The formimidamide chemistry in conjunction with bromoketones is being explored en route to the synthesis of oroidin and the proposed dimeric analogs. The details of the progress will be shared.
