The ACS Senior Chemists Committee (SCC) is the newest ACS Committee and exists due to the dedication and vision of three outstanding leaders. The SCC was preceded by the Silver Circle Task Force, a group which met during the ACS National Meetings and hosted Senior Chemists Breakfast. This presentation will discuss the history of the formation of the committee, focusing on the pioneering work of the first three leaders of the group:<br/>Dr. Eli Pearce- Chair of the Silver Circle Task Force (2009-2011)<br/>Mr. George E. Heinze – Chair of the Silver Circle Task Force (2012) and Chair of the Senior Chemists Committee 2013-2015.<br/>Dr. Thomas R. Beattie – Chair of the SCC (2015-2018) and SCC Consultant (2019)<br/>These leaders recognized the need for ACS to support ACS members over 50 years of age who desired to stay actively engaged in the Society and governance.
