Positron emission tomography (PET) is a sensitive diagnostic technique, which has been employed to detect and stage various diseases. 89Zr is a positron-emitting radionuclide with favorable physical properties including a relatively long half-life of 78.4 hours and has been investigated for PET imaging of various biomarkers. In our continued efforts to develop effective chelation chemistry for Zr-89, we have explored various donor systems and chelating agents for complexation with 89Zr. In this presentation, we report synthesis and evaluation of novel small molecule chelating agents for 89Zr. The novel chelating agents were evaluated for radiolabeling with 89Zr, and stability of the Zr-89 labeled chelators in human serum and excess EDTA solution were determined.
