Peptides are an attractive solution for crop protection inputs. They degrade to harmless nutrients. They can be stable for efficacy but do not persist in the environment. They can be exquisitely potent and yet selective. Until SPEAR®, the challenges of stability, bioavailability, regulatory path and manufacturing had not been commercially solved. SPEAR® overcame all of these challenges and, for this, SPEAR® was recognized as a winner of the Green Chemistry Challenges Award. In this talk, we will present how these challenges were overcome. Further, we will outline how Vestaron’s platform of peptide optimization, manufacturing and delivery, and pipeline of insecticidal and additional classes of peptides, will improve the safety, sustainability and productivity of agriculture and beyond.
