The Chemical Sciences Branch of the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Army Research Laboratory (ARL) supports research that advances the understanding of properties and processes governing molecules and their interactions in materials and chemical systems. Within the Division, the Polymer Chemistry Program seeks to understand the molecular-level link between polymer microstructure and functionality, and ensuing macroscopic properties. This Program supports research aimed at (i) developing new approaches for synthesizing polymers with precisely defined microstructure and on exploring how molecular structure impacts polymer assembly; and (ii) on developing polymers that exhibit programmed molecular responses to external stimuli. In this talk, Dr. Poree will provide an overview of the Army S&T enterprise and specific research areas of interest to the ARL Polymer Chemistry Program, with a particular emphasis placed on efforts that promote polymer circularity. She will also provide insight into funding mechanisms and proposal processes.
