The rigid pore structures of zeolites have long been exploited to effect shape-selective reactivity. We have designed a series of mononuclear complexes that contain a rigid secondary sphere aperture which gates access to the primary coordination sphere. These "molecular zeolites" are readily tuned and easily characterized. We will discuss their syntheses and show early results from our study of their reactivity profiles.
