The persistent discharge of contaminated effluents to aquatic environments causes health issues for humans and all aquatic living beings. Emerging pollutants are synthetic or naturally occurring substances that commonly cannot be eliminated adequately in conventional wastewater treatment plants. Therefore the development of efficient and affordable water purification technologies is acutely essential to address global water and energy shortage. Considering the broad application in the photodegradation and/or transformation of immense pollutants, photocatalysis has become the focus of the current study as a means of green potential. In this study, we benefit from the mechanical energy activation of chemical reactions within ball milling technology to prepare Fe/TiO<sub>2</sub> photocatalyst. Changing the configuration of the system such as ball to powder ratio, milling time, and milling speed had a direct effect on the band-gap reduction of the catalyst and consequently on the photodegradation of the emerging pollutant under visible light irradiation.
