Mycobacteria produce a range of different glycans that play important roles in modulating the host immune response that occurs upon infection. Understanding, at the molecular level, the protein–glycan interactions mediating these responses is poorly understood. This presentation will describe the development of an array of synthetic glycans that will facilitate unravelling the molecular basis of glycan-mediated immunity in mycobacterial disease. In particular, the use of the array to understand the binding of monoclonal antibodies to mycobacterial glycans will be discussed.
