The discovery of new organic radical ligands is challenging which is attributed to high reactivity that originates from the unpaired electron. The combination of radical ligands with metal ions can give rise to magnetic coupling, typically engendering valuable physical properties such as conductivity and magnetism which have important ramifications for the advancement of technologies. Yttrium possesses a stable isotope (<sup>89</sup>Y) with a natural abundance of 100% and a nuclear spin of ½ and thus, matching diamagnetic Y<sup>89</sup> with organic radicals allows for insight into the electronic structure through subjecting the compounds to continuous wave and pulsed EPR techniques such as HYSCORE. Here, various new yttrium radical compounds will be presented.
