Hybrid nanostructures composed of plasmonic noble metal and semiconductors attract great attention recently for their novel properties and potential applications in gas sensors, photocatalytic, and antimicrobial activities. However, the straightforward and facile synthesis of the asymmetric metal-semiconductor hybrid nanostructures with well-defined heterostructures and high porosity remains challenging. Herein, we report a simple and feasible method for preparing porous Ag2S/Ag metal-semiconductor hybrid nanostructures with controlled manners. The one-pot synthesis method in an aqueous solution at room temperature is adopted to prepare Ag2S/Ag hybrid heteronanocrystal with hollow structural and monodisperse characteristics based on the interfacial surfactant directing effect and the Ostwald ripening effect. The morphology and structure of the final products, such as pure spherical or cubic Ag2S nanocrystals, hollow or solid Ag2S/Ag heterojunctions, are depended on the types and the concentration of the surfactants, and the reaction times. The systematic studies show that the solubility product constants of silver salts and the critical micelle concentration of the surfactants in an aqueous solution are two key factors for the formation and morphology of the final heterojunction structure.
