Surface enhanced spectroscopy has found its applications in different disciplines. When an emitter or scatter is placed near a metal nanoparticle, the scattered or emitter light intensity will be significantly changed due to the strong interaction between the emitter or scatter with the metal nanoparticle. One of the key parameters in the surface enhanced spectroscopy is the change of the radiative decay rate of the emitter or scatter. Using numerical methods, we showed that the change of the radiative decay rate of the scatter or emitter will be dramatically different when multiple emitters or scatters are placed near a metal nanoparticle in comparison to the case when only one emitter or scatter is included. The difference can be several orders of magnitude. The mechanism behind the numerical simulations will be discussed.
