The Modular Automated Colorimetric Analysis Widget (MACAW) is a new prototype device for imaging, analyzing, and transmitting results for an automated evaluation of water quality.  The MACAW was developed for paper-based water contaminant sensors, but the automated algorithm is flexible and powerful, and it has been adapted for several types of colorimetric and fluorometric readings. The device is reusable, wireless, only a few cubic inches, and is very low cost.
