The synthesis of Dihydrofuran derivatives has gained significant relevance due to their appearance in several natural products with applications in medicine and biology. Even though the synthesis of these systems has been reported, preparation of these molecules via regioselective g C–C bond formation of novel acyclic protected dienolates has not been tried before. This approach allows a novel route to a wide range of polysubstituted products from high to excellent yield, including an easy modification of starting materials. Other transformations of the obtained products are described.
