<b>Abstract:</b> The archaeological fabric fragments discovered in Han tomb of Haiqu during excavations are invaluable textile remains from Han Dynasty, date back to 2000 years ago. It represents earlier civilization. The black network-structure fragments were characterized by analytical methods including ultra-depth-of-field microscopic observation, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy-energy spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and determined as follows: the inner core yarn of the structure was made of mulberry silk, with outside lacquer coating. Cinnabar was added to the lacquer layer as a color component. In particular, through Raman spectroscopic analysis, it is observed that for the first time, it is highly likely albite, derived from shells, was used as additive in dusty layer in lacquers. Lacquer coating technique is one of the extraordinary traditional crafts in ancient China, performing as a unique and prevalent fabric finishing technique as well. In Han Dynasty, in the process of making crowns and shoes, lacquer coating was used to achieve a similar purpose as the finishing technique in modern textile industry, to make silk fabrics stiff, firm and waterproof after functional modification.
