Porphyrin chemistry is widely studied in the field of photophysics and organic chemistry because porphyrin derivatives have a good electrical transfer properties and optical properties such as triplet-triplet annihilation and up-conversion emission. In derivatives containing heavy metals with high atomic numbers at the center of the molecular structure of porphyrins, intersystem crossing (ISC) occurs actively and phosphorescence emission by triplet state is activated. Since crystal growth is achieved by self-assembly of molecules, crystal growth can be controlled by adding ionic substances, such as nucleic acids. In this study, the photoluminescence (PL) characteristics of each were compared and analyzed using one-dimensional (1D) crystal structures grown by two different methods. Also, different amount of nucleic acid affected the shape of crystals. The ratio of fluorescence and phosphorescence in PL was different depending on the growth method, and additive. In a 1D crystal structure, for example rod or strip, the optical waveguide phenomenon in which generated PL will be propagated in a specific direction. The crystals grown using a porphyrin derivative which has phosphorescent, it was observed that the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of PL changes with propagated distance. An advanced optoelectronic device can be realized by using a change in the ratio of fluorescence and phosphorescence and selective PL emission by an optical waveguide.
