In response to the demand for weight reduction in automobiles, the mechanical fastening is changing to a method using structural adhesives. In this case of adhesives used for automobiles, the required physical properties vary depending on bonding site. In the case of vibration-resistant areas, vibration damping is very important, and impact resistance performance is also important in areas where impacts are continuously accumulated. Epoxy resin is mainly used for structural adhesives, it has a brittle property that breaks easily even with a light impact. Due to these factors, heat resistance, high rigidity, toughness and flexibility are one of the important factors for structural adhesive. To give these characteristics, toughening materials (inorganic hard particles, rubber-based, polyurethane) are used together.<br/>Due to the tightening of carbon dioxide emission regulations, automobile companies mainly focus on reducing the weight of automotive. They are trying to replace steel materials with trending materials such as CFRP, Al and Mg. For materials such as FRP, many problems arise with physical bonding. Physical bonding may cause cracks due to stress concentration inside. For this reason, the use of adhesives increases, and in order to maximized the efficiency of adhesives, surface treatment is one of the important factors for dissimilar materials
