Environmental pollution in different aquatic species is a growing concern in most of the developing countries. Potential environmental contaminants such as heavy and toxic metals are currently causing various severe diseases in humans due to the long-time consumption of metal contaminated various food items grown in polluted areas. The mobilization and transportation mechanism of different heavy metals in various fish from pollution sources have been investigated and examined. Pollution mechanism analysis in various aquatic components including sediment and fish was carried out with Potential Ecological Risk Index (PERI), Pollution Load Index (PLI), Metal Enrichment (EF), Total Target Hazard Index (TTHQ), and Geo-accumulation Index (Igeo). The results reveal the distribution and translocation pattern of metals in terrestrial ecosystem and their subsequent impacts on human health.
