A detailed description of the complex interactions of dicumylperoxide with the secondary antioxidant bis-(octadecyloxycarbonylethyl) sulfide in dodecane will be presented.  Kinetic and spectroscopic experiments will be accompanied by DFT calculations to provide a detailed mechanistic description for the roles of dicumyl peroxide, bis-(octadecyloxycarbonylethyl) sulfide, atmospheric oxygen, and trace quantities of water in the overall process.
