DC-SIGN (Dendritic Cell-Specific ICAM-3 Grabbing Non-Integrin) is a C-type lectin expressed mainly on the surface of Dendritic Cells. This lectin plays a pivotal role in the surveillance of pathogen invasion but some pathogens such as HIV, Ebola, etc. take advantage of this recognition to infect the organism.<br/>DC-SIGN recognizes highly glycosylated conjugates that contains fucose or mannose units present at the surface of these pathogens. Multivalent glycoconjugate tools are required to study and intervene in these biological processes where carbohydrates mediate the recognition events between pathogens and target cells. Our group has explored different multivalent presentations of mannoses using a variety of scaffolds to construct glycodendritic molecules capable to inhibit viral infection mediated by DC-SIGN. As scaffolds we have used different platforms such as small organic molecules, carbon nanoforms or viral-like particles affording glycodendritic structures with different size, valency and presentation. The activity of these glycodendritic structures has been evaluated in cell infection models obtaining EC<sub>50</sub> in the mM to pM range.
