Production of the present era’s contemporary fluorochemicals on an industrial scale is achieved through application of a variety of fluorination methodologies that have evolved over the years.  Methodologies employed for the production of industrial fluorochemicals are as diverse as the myriad products they produce.  Industrial scale production of fluorochemical products, through direct/indirect fluorine addition, fluorine substitution, halogen exchange (Halex), hydrogen addition/dehydrofluorination, pyrolysis, and the building block approach, plays a foundational role in support of key industries that rely heavily, or otherwise are dependent on fluorine containing products.  In this talk we will look at key synthetic methodologies that are employed at an industrial scale to support many different critical industries.
